PERCHÉ IL VINO È

From the extreme altitude to the slow harvest, every bottle of Montenero captures the breath of the mountains and the care of expert hands. An authentic wine, a child of its land.

strategic vineyards

Montenero lies between 750 and 900 meters above sea level, where the altitude shapes a unique and unrepeatable landscape. The vines, kissed by the sun and caressed by sharp temperature variations, mature slowly, preserving the soul of the land. This is where excellence comes from: from care, from patience, from respect for nature's rhythms.

Volcanic force

On the slopes of Mount Etna, Montenero is rooted in rich, vibrant lava soil. Here, the earth exudes ancient warmth, imbuing the vineyards with energy, character, and an extraordinary expression of the terroir.

pure essence

Each bottle captures the history of the land, the harmony of the climate, and the passion for our land. Montenero transforms grapes into wine with respect, offering an authentic and intense experience with every sip.

Winemakers for 3 generations

OUR HISTORY

GRAMPA

Francesco Bertino, the current heir's grandfather, began his career by purchasing this vineyard in 1955 for his own purposes. He worked there for nearly five years, finally bringing the vineyard into production and starting to market his produce. The idea proved to be quite successful and profitable, but, given the lack of interest in legalizing the business, it was never officially launched.

FATHER

The situation changed with the arrival of his son Vincenzo, who, dedicating himself to the business, took charge of regularizing the company and establishing a fiscally responsible and systematic production. He took over the vineyards, regulated the products, and, over the years, received several awards, further enhancing the value of the work he had accomplished over the years.

SON

In 2018, Francesco Bertino (the nephew) joined the company. Passionate about viticulture, he took charge of the situation and is committed to continuing it with innovative and above all organic systems, with the aim of further enhancing the work carried out over the years by his family.

WE PRESENT OUR WINES

Harmony DOC Etna Rosso

Montenero's Etna DOC is a wine that smells of Sicily, of captivating horizons that evoke emotion, of soft woods and rugged valleys, where the volcano, passionate and severe, gives the wines a natural diversity.

Our Etna Rosso is made from Nerello Mascalese grapes, an ancient native grape grown on the northern slopes of Etna, between 700 and 800 meters above sea level. The grapes enjoy a unique climate compared to the rest of Sicily: constant ventilation, humidity, and unique temperature variations between day and night create a unique soil and climate.

Our label is a tribute from one of the students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania. The theme of our label represents the harmony of the grape variety, which is then passed down to our wines.

Harmony DOC Etna White

A wine made from white Carricante grapes, grown as bush vines on the volcanic terraces of Mount Etna, approximately 700–750 meters above sea level. Straw yellow in color with greenish highlights, this wine offers a harmonious and refreshing palate, thanks to the minerals present in the soil. It pairs well with white meats and fish. Serve at 10–12°C.

Sicilian Lands IGP Red

A full-bodied, velvety wine, present in the red variety, which retains its purity and uniqueness. Made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, our PGI releases citrusy aromas of fresh fruit. On the palate, it offers good acidity and freshness, thanks to the volcanic and mineral soil.

The scents of wild berries take us back in time to the ancient corners of an enchanted island like Sicily, where shadows and shapes glide over the past and caress the present.

Our wine is born on volcanic soil, which gives the grapes minerality and character, offering an authentic and elegant sip.
